The Royal Netherlands Yacht Club in a joint venture with Royal de Maas Yacht Club (Rotterdam) has been accepted as the Sixth challenger for the 36th Americas Cup in 2021.
Simeon Tienpond, who was the skipper of the AKZO NOBEL Volvo Ocean Racer during the last Volvo Ocean race will form a syndicate of experienced Dutch yachtsmen. Simeon is member of the Royal Netherlands YC.
The Royal Netherlands Yacht Club is since 1955 the host of the Dragon Gold Cup in Holland. Since 1965 together with Royal Hollandia YC. The same applies for the DGC 2019.
The Royal Netherlands YC is the leading yacht club in The Netherlands for Dragon Sailing with a home fleet of 21 Dragons. The club will also host the Dutch Open 2019 in September from their base in Muiden near Amsterdam.
