With 8 weeks to go to the start of the 75th Dragon Gold Cup event and a stabilising number of around 100 entries, the organisation team is shifting gears to prepare the final details. The same applies for our sponsors. Reason why we will publish several articles about companies and people ‘behind the scenes’ who fully support our Class and the Dragon Gold Cup 2019.
In Aalsmeer on the shores of Westeinder Lake Marc Blees has established his head office of Code | Zero. This week 320 orange tech shirts, 50 blue polo shirts and some 360 blue caps were send to the printer for final Dragon Gold Cup 2019 prints by our sponsor and official supplier Code | Zero. The project is in the good hands of product manager Deasy Droog. Since many years she is the trusted assistant of Marc Blees, owner and entrepreneur of Code | Zero and his other brand X Styles.
The brand Code | Zero was launched by Marc in 2017. Winds in his business environment were shifting in 2016. As keen yachtsman he anticipated promptly on this shift. During the past two years Marc realised with hard work, a dedicated team and trusted relations a global brand for the sailing community with the appealing name ‘Code | Zero’. It now has offices in Germany, France, Palma de Mallorca, Aalsmeer (Amsterdam) and Newport (Rhode Island) with seven retail outlets in Europe and in the USA.
Marc joined the Dutch Dragon class in 1996 after having won several national titles in different classes and one world title.Together with Tim Tavinor he sailed the Dragon Gold Cup 2017 in Saint-Tropez. However, after this event his full focus was at his business development.
Next to being the official supplier for the Dragon Gold Cup 2019, the Code | Zero brand will this year also show its flag during the 52 Super Series and the 12 Meters Class Worlds in Newport, USA.
As yachtsman, Marc sails the Maxi 72 class and Rambler 88. He underlines that he is full amateur in those full professional circuits. His agenda for 2019 is impressive: Voiles de Saint Barth, Capri, Giraglia, Fastnet Race, Round the Isle, Maxi Worlds, Voiles de Saint-Tropez, Middle Sea Race and at the end the year the Sydney – Hobart race.
One of his business secrets is that his sailing and his business activities mix nicely, since he meets many entrepreneurial people in the sailing community on the shores of the sailing centres of the world.
We are looking forward to seeing Marc Blees in Medemblik at the end of the week of the Dragon Gold Cup 2019. During the start of the event he will be helming Jethou Maxi 77 during the Giraglia-Rolex Cup in Saint-Tropez.
We wish both Code | Zero and Marc Blees good winds for maximum performance!
